There are signs that another Korean player will not be able to make it to the top 10 in this year’s LPGA Tour.
In the second round of the LPGA Tour’s Amazing Cree Portland Classic ($1.5 million in total prize money) held at Columbia Edgewater Country Club (par 72) in Portland, Oregon, USA on the 17th (Korean time), no Korean player was ranked in the top 10.
Shin Ji-eun (30), tied for 13th (6 under par 138), was only ranked the highest among Korean players.
Shin Ji-eun hit a 2-under-par 70 that day.
Na-yeon Choi (35), So-yeon Yoo (32), Woon-jeong Choi (32), and Mi-hyang Lee (29) were tied for 19th (5-under par 139).
‘Rookie Duo’ Hyejin Choi (23) and Anna Lin (26) were tied for 26th (4 under par 140).
On this year’s LPGA Tour, no Korean player has made it to the top 10 three times: the Meyer Classic in June, the ISPS Handa World Invitational last month, and the Dana Open that ended on the 5th.
Jinyoung Ko (27), No. 1 in the world rankings, Hyo Joo Kim (27) in 8th, Inji Jeon (28) in 10th, Seyoung Kim (29) in 12th, Inbi Park (34) in 15th did not participate in this tournament.
Esther Hanselwright (Germany) and Lilia Boo (USA) tied for the lead at 10-under 134.
Hanselwright hit an 8-under 64, and Boo hit a 6-under 66.
Carlotta Cigarida (Spain), who cut six strokes, chased 3rd by one stroke (9-under 135), and Korean Andrea Lee (USA) hit 8-under 64, tied for 4th (8-under 136). hit the round
