During a press conference, bakers’ unions reported a possible increase in the price of bread. Faced with this declaration, the Ministry of Commerce, Consumer Affairs and SMEs informs the public that no increase in the price of bread is envisaged by the Government.

As a reminder, the price of bread is subject to approval and its revision follows a specific procedure, which is triggered by referral to the Department of Internal Trade, by those wishing to change the price accompanied by the relevant supporting documents. .

To date, no price review request has been filed for a possible reevaluation of the price of bread. Furthermore, it should be noted that the Government, on the instructions of His Excellency the President of the Republic, has dedicated between 2022 and 2023, sixty (60) billion CFA francs for the stabilization of the price of baguette bread. reference to one hundred and seventy-five CFA francs (175) instead of a projected price of three hundred and twenty-five CFA francs (325).
