Berne » PostFinance should not be able to grant loans and mortgages. The Commission for the Economy and Royalties of the Council of States proposes, by 10 votes and 3 abstentions, not to enter into the matter on the revision of the law on the organization of the Post Office.
The elected officials felt that the current draft revision, which provides for partial privatization, did not make it possible to face future challenges, the services of Parliament communicated yesterday. Rather, the commission considers that PostFinance’s entry into the credit and mortgage market would cause new problems.
The Federal Council submitted a draft to Parliament in the summer of 2021 which provided for the lifting of the credit ban for PostFinance as well as a partial privatization of financial services.
