No air conditioning: Boy scouts suffered heat stroke on bus ride

A total of 13 young people from the group from Hesse had to be treated following the rescue operation in Lichtenfels in Upper Franconia, a police spokesman said. Five of them were moderately injured and eight were slightly injured. Investigations have now been launched.

Some of the teenagers had suffered from heat stroke, while others had circulatory problems. Some of the teenagers were taken to nearby hospitals and others were treated on the spot. The teenagers were reportedly between 12 and 15 years old.

According to the police, the air conditioning in the bus was not switched on for reasons that are still unknown. It was not yet clear whether it was working or whether it had been intentionally left off. The bus now needs to be checked for technical reasons. The bus driver is also being investigated. He will be questioned in the next few days, the police officer said.
