As part of the big games of the month of October, Gotham Knights will be available both on the old generations of consoles (PS4, Xbox One) as well as the new ones, namely PS5 and Xbox Series. Until now, gamers have been accustomed to taking advantage of the more powerful technical capabilities of these machines and enjoying 4K (native or dynamic) and 60fps simultaneously. Well, that won’t be the case for Gotham Knights, which is simply deprived of 60 frames per second. The information comes from Fleur Marty, producer on the game, who let it be known on Discord that her game will be stuck at 30fps on PS5 and Xbox Series, explaining that there will be no “Performance” mode available. This blockage is due to the “kinds of elaborate features in Gotham Knights”, which compromises 4K and 60fps to work in concert. These features are a very detailed open world and local co-op.

I know many of you are wondering regarding the availability of a performance mode for Gotham Knights on consoles. Because of the kinds of features we have in our game, like providing a fully self-contained co-op experience in our highly detailed open world, it’s not as simple as lowering the resolution and getting a higher FPS. For this reason, our game has no performance/quality toggle option and will run at 30fps on consoles.

Very quickly, Internet users split into two clans, those who swear by the sacrosanct 60fps and who are outraged by such a decision, claiming that other open worlds manage to do it perfectly, and that the excuse is flawed, while the others understand this choice and see no difference between 60 and 30fps anyway. In any case, Gotham Knights is still expected for October 21 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4 and Xbox One.
