Nissan Versa SR: family with sporty air

The supply of sedans in the car market is increasingly limited. In the small saloon category, the models that can be purchased today are the Toyota Etios, Renault Logan, Fiat Cronos, Chevrolet Onix Plus and the Nissan Versa. In order to win over users of this type of family car emotionally, Nissan replicated the formula it applied in Sentra and added a sporty variant to the Versa range.

The Nissan Versa SR was launched as an avant premiere in January at the Cariló stand. It is part of the brand’s new features for 2024 along with the X-Play edition of the SUV, Kicks.

The most attractive

The Nissan Versa had a radical change in 2020, following which it remained one of the most attractive in its segment. Conceived on the same platform as the Nissan Kicks, the small sedan has since grown in length, width and wheelbase compared to its predecessor. At the same time, it adopted a sharp look resulting from its slanted optics with integrated daytime running lights and the boomerang-type grille, not to mention the hood with marked lines.

The new generation of the Nissan sedan that has been on sale since 2020 has grown in all its proportions, placing it among the most spacious in its segment. It comes from Mexico and its perceived quality is above the average for its segment.

In the footsteps of the Sentra

Within Nissan, the acronym SR is synonymous with sporty aesthetics. The model that took this treatment to the top was the Nissan Sentra and the Versa was recently added. This new variant is positioned above the Advance and below the top of the range (Exclusive). Its main aesthetic features focus on the SR emblem on the grill and on the trunk, black rearview mirrors and a rear spoiler.

The front of the Versa is one of the most aggressive in the category, apart from this variant.

Inside, the most notable differentials are the red stitching on the seats, which are made of fabric. Of the equipment, it is worth highlighting the iKey smart key with function of opening, closing doors, trunk and panic alarm, engine start/stop button, cruise control, audio equipment with four speakers, on-board computer with digital display. 7″ color, fog lights, Follow me home function, multimedia system with 7″ touch screen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and wireless charger.

The interior design does not differ much from the conventional versions, except for the red stitching on the fabric seats.

Without extra power

Nissan chose to retain the well-known 1.6-liter non-turbo engine, which had already received improvements in power by offering 18 HP and 150 Nm of torque. It can only be combined with a CVT automatic transmission. Among the most notable features of the propellant is its very good performance. Its consumption ranges between 6 and 7.5 liters per 100 km at a speed of between 100 and 130 km/h, on the road. In the city it uses between 9.5 and 10 liters every 100 km.

The red SR emblem (both on the hood and on the grill) is its main hallmark.
