Nissan USA updates Altima engines for 2025 model year

While Nissan has reduced the complexity of the Altima lineup, the manufacturer may plan to discontinue the mid-size sedan in 2026. But at least its powertrain offerings remain the same.

Nissan has dropped its old turbo-4 option that once promised to improve performance and efficiency across the Nissan and Infiniti lineups.

That 2.0-liter turbo-4, called the SR VC-Turbo, varies the engine’s compression through a complex mechanical system, but the system doesn’t deliver transformative power, isn’t available with all-wheel drive, costs more, and doesn’t improve the Altima’s fuel economy.

The sole engine available this year is a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that makes 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque with front-wheel drive and 182 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque with all-wheel drive.

The Altima S starts at $28,140 and includes cloth upholstery, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wired connectivity.

The price of a new Altima SV with front-wheel drive rises to $28,750. All-wheel drive adds another $1,500 to that number.

All 2025 Altima sedans come with three free oil changes in the first two years or 24,000 miles of ownership. All models come with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors and automatic high beams.

The new Altima SV packs some popular equipment into one trim level. It includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, 17-inch wheels, a wireless charging pad, and interior trim that looks like carbon fiber.

The Altima SR is priced at $29,970 with all-wheel drive, a $1,500 upcharge, and the Altima SL is priced at $34,470, with all-wheel drive also increasing in price.

Features on the top-of-the-line sedan include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, Bose premium audio, wireless smartphone connectivity, a wireless smartphone charger, a surround-view camera system, a sunroof, and adaptive cruise control functionality with limited hands-free capability.
