South America Nissan envisions a future with zero fatalities. For this, prioritizing the safety of all passengers inside a vehicle – including minors – is a fundamental factor.

Child restraint systems in cars, commonly known as “child seats” or “car seats”, allow for the safe transport of children under 12 years of age in the back seat. They are essential to reduce the probability of accidents or mortality, and favor the safety of children during the trip.

All vehicles that Nissan currently sells in the markets of Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru are equipped with the ISOFIX system on the two rear side seats, which allows you to attach the child seat with greater safety and simplicity. In its Nissan Ambition 2030 global vision, safety is paramount.

When traveling by car with the family, it is possible to put into practice some recommendations regarding the child restraint system:

  1. Periodically check the adjustment of the children to the car seats;
  2. Review the expiration date of the equipment;
  3. Research the timing of changing from the baby comfort to the child seat and then to the booster seat. Both age and weight and height are elements that will define the transition from one to the other and the position (back or front).
  4. Perform the Tightness Test: After attaching and tightening the seat belt lock on the child seat, adjust the belt strap on the child’s shoulder. If fingers slip out of the loop, the belt is tight. If you can get the strap between your fingers, keep squeezing.
  5. In winter, remove children’s coats, as they can affect the fit of the seat belt to the car safety seat. The ISOFIX system can simplify logistics on cold days, as it allows the process to be more agile and faster.
  6. Replacing the Child Restraint System After a Crash: The foam padding inside the car seat can become unstable following even a minor crash. The seat may look good, but it might be damaged.
  7. Place children under 12 in the backseat. This keeps them out of the trigger zone. airbagwhich, in a frontal collision situation, can represent a high risk.

Car rides with kids can be challenging. Nissan South America is committed to its customers to deliver quality products that ensure they are well prepared for a ride enjoying the driving experience.
