Latin America – With a firm commitment to offering the best products and services to provide an excellent experience to its customers, Nissan announces that, as of November 1, Nissan Mexicana (NMEX), Nissan Importers Business Unit (NIBU) and Nissan America do Sul (NSAM) began to combine their operations under the name Nissan América Latina (LATAM).
The news was announced during the visit of Makoto Uchida, CEO of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., to the Nissan do Brasil Industrial Complex, in Resende. This change in the Japanese automaker’s organizational structure reinforces the importance of Latin America for Nissan globally. Nissan LATAM, which is part of the Americas region, is made up of 39 countries: Mexico (Nissan Mexicana), Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, the countries of Central America and the Caribbean (NIBU), and Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru (NSAM).
“Sustainable growth in America is a key driver of a stronger future for Nissan,” said Jérémie Papin, president of Nissan Americas. “Aligning Mexico, South America and NIBU into a single business unit in Latin America will position us to better leverage our extensive manufacturing operations and our brand strength to accelerate our performance.”
“Latin America is a key region for Nissan not only from the point of view of business and production, but also due to the potential for growth and development, led by the talent and quality delivered by its employees. Nissan LATAM will strengthen the brand’s presence in the region, optimize our operations with more agility, synergy and competitiveness, in addition to offering great opportunities to its talents. With this, we will enhance the business and our corporate culture in this new stage that we are beginning, while maintaining our strategy of exceeding our customers’ expectations”mentioned Guy Rodríguez, president of Nissan Latin America and Corporate Vice President of Nissan Motor Co.
With five vehicle plants – three in Mexico (Aguascalientes 1, Aguascalientes 2 and CIVAC), one in Argentina (Córdoba) and one in Brazil (Resende, state of Rio de Janeiro) –, two engine plants (Aguascalientes and Resende), two Research and Development Centers, a Design Center, more than 700 distributors across the region and 19,000 talents that drive innovation, Nissan LATAM has a great future ahead.
The great relevance that the region represents for Nissan is mainly reflected in the success of the brand’s vehicles in the region, where 91% of models sold are produced locally. There were more than 280 thousand vehicles sold and more than 400 thousand vehicles produced in Latin America, in 2022 alone. In the fiscal year, there was a growth of 19% in the NIBU markets and 16.1% in NSAM sales. Without a doubt, bringing the business together under a single team will bring numerous competitive advantages.
