Nissan issued another recall for more than 400,000 cars in its model lineup

Nissan Group (Nissan-Infiniti) had announced a 25.4% decrease compared to the previous year, in total US sales for calendar year 2022 to just 729,350 units.

In Mexico, Nissan continues to be the leader, but with 168,940 units sold in 2022, with a reduction of 17.2%, numbers that will soon leave it without leadership.

Despite the fact that in 2022 both Nissan and Infiniti climbed a few places in the reliability ranking of JD Power, they do not reach anywhere near Toyota or the Korean automakers.

This low reliability is reflected in the continuous withdrawals, which the manufacturer had to carry out in recent times. The construction of their models are not solid as in the past.

Nissan models no longer seduce, something similar to those of Honda. Both Kia and Hyundai have taken sales away, with more attractive and more reliable models.

A withdrawal that alarms and for now without remedy

Following a recent recall related to the defroster for its Leaf electric vehicle, Nissan issued another recall for nearly 404,700 models, this time involving airbag cover emblems.

Affected vehicles include 2008 through 2011 model year Armada, Pathfinder and Xterra SUVs and 2008 through 2009 model year Frontier and Titan pickup trucks and Quest minivans.

Due to a production issue, the resin emblem attached to the airbag module cover may crack over time.

The broken emblem might detach and strike occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy is still in development at this time, but Nissan will begin notifying owners of the issue on April 10.

In the meantime, those with further questions can contact the automaker or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline, or visit their website to verify your vehicle identification number and get more information.
