The Swedish Women’s Cup was started in 1981 and the following year AIK and Hammarby IF met in the semi-finals at Ritorps IP in Solna. The visitors won 4–1 following AIK’s Reneé Jansson reduced the score in the second half. Eight years later, the teams met in the round of 16 at Hagalund’s IP and once once more the away team won clearly, this time with 4–0. On June 11, 1992, in the middle of the Swedish men’s national team’s EC at home, it was time once more and the match was dramatic, but following a penalty shootout, Hammarby IF won.
AIK continued in the 2000s to have problems with Hammarby and the home meetings in 2001 and 2003 also ended in loss. The last three cup meetings between AIK and Hammarby IF have been played at Hammarby IP and the home team won the first with 3–0. However, the last two meetings in the Swedish Cup have ended with AIK winning. On 16 May 2012, AIK won 1–0 in front of 232 spectators following Clara Markstedt answered for the match’s only goal in the first half. February 17, 2019 is the last time the teams met in the Swedish Cup and AIK answered for a brilliant effort when they left Hammarby IP in front of 704 spectators with a 3-0 victory in the bag following goals from Elsa Törnblom, Malin Broberg and Matilda Rosqvist.
