Nintendo Switch: the PS4 beaten in France by impressive sales, here are the scores

News business Nintendo Switch: the PS4 beaten in France by impressive sales, here are the scores

While all eyes are more than ever on the battle between Sony and Microsoft, we should not forget Nintendo, whose rise seems inevitable. In France, she is now the number one.

Switch de position

It’s done. The Nintendo Switch has long threatened the PS4, whose scores in France were already resplendent: now, the small nomadic console has exceeded 6.1 million units sold in France, and has therefore just exchanged its position with the previous Sony machine. The figures are communicated to us directly by Philippe Lavoué, general manager of Nintendo France, during an interview with Le Figaro.

A score all the more impressive that the Swich was launched much later than everyone else, on March 3, 2017 only, once morest November 29, 2013 for the PlayStation 4. Years of difference that count, definitely, and which testify to a meteoric progression which is not yet regarding to weaken: currently in France, one in two consoles sold is a Switch, that is to say! The forecasts are also happy: by continuing this momentum, Big N’s little beast will soon dethrone a certain Wii (6.3 million sold in our country) to take the coveted title of the best-selling home console in the history of France. Just that.

Another box in 2022 for the Nintendo Switch?

It must be said that the Switch owes its success to an ingenious and mobile system, less powerful of course, but also more affordable and which can be supported in addition to inimitable exclusive franchises. For this year alone, Nintendo is planning some nice commercial strikes: first of all Pokemon Legends: Arceus, whose arrival is set for January 28, but also Kirby and the Forgotten World which will land on March 25, 2022. Between the two, the J-RPG TRIANGLE STRATEGY with Octopath Traveler sauce, scheduled for March 4.

The rest of the year is also home to future hits: impossible not to mention Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 (which may not be called like that, let’s specify), which should establish itself as THE tidal wave of 2022 at Nintendo. We can also count on the highly demanded Bayonetta 3, or on the remakes Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp.

In short, everything is for the best at Nintendo, ultimately very far from the showdown between Sony and Microsoft that has caused so much ink to flow. Last November, there were thus 92 million Switches sold worldwide; results that have probably swelled since the end of the year holidays, always very prolific. Without speaking balances that are happening right now.
