It looks more and more like Nintendo will introduce new hardware in the foreseeable future. The Switch is in its seventh year and rumors of a successor are increasing. There’s no announcement yet, but Nintendo of America boss Doug Bowser is hoping the Switch 2 will come as a surprise.
The Nintendo Switch is pretty old now, but that doesn’t stop Nintendo from still releasing great titles like Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4 on it. Still, there will have to be a successor at some point, and according to various rumors and analysts, we can expect one as early as 2024. It’s just completely unknown what the new hardware will look like.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Nintendo of America boss Doug Bowser now hints that he can’t comment on any features of the new Switch. However, he reveals that it is Nintendo’s intention to always surprise customers. The company is always looking for new ways to play.
Therefore, there is little concrete information regarding the successor to the switch. Doug Bowser points out that the Switch’s portability is a key reason the console is still selling well. But of course that doesn’t mean that a successor, even if it’s a Switch 2, can’t bring unexpected developments.
