Nintendo reveals trailer for M-rated horror game

Breaking away from its line entirely aimed at families and the little ones in the house, Nintendo presented a new cinematic trailer titled “Emio”, which seems to be a horror game. Although it is not the first time that the big N presents a game of this style, it is noteworthy that it is a game with an adult rating.

As you can see from the trailer, it’s very short and doesn’t include any details regarding the plot or the release date. Instead, it just shows grainy cinematic footage of a man standing in the dark, holding a paper bag with a smiley face on it.

The trailer’s description also doesn’t have any further information, simply inviting fans to ask: “Who is Emio?”, with the corresponding hashtag. According to the Japanese media Gematsuin his language is titled “Smiling Man”.

At the moment, not much is known regarding this upcoming title… not who is developing it, not when it will arrive, and not even if it will be available for the Nintendo Switch or its successor which will arrive in 2025but clearly this is the beginning of a mysterious campaign of intrigue around this new video game.

There are few clues as to what this new Nintendo game might be

The game might be a new title from developer Bloober Team. Users from ResetEra have seen an interview between Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno and PAP Biznes. In that interview, Babieno mentions that he works “in cooperation with the best game creators in the world for Nintendo platforms.”

Since Nintendo has been very secretive regarding the developers working on its games over the past few years, we probably won’t know if this game is being developed by Bloober Team until following its release.
