Many Nintendo fans are desperate for their favorite franchises to return, but one of the company’s die-hard fans has gone so far as to spend tens of thousands of dollars asking for a sequel to his favorite series.
A Nintendo fan was dedicated enough to spend more than 5 million yen (regarding 40,000 euros) in Nintendo shares, which gave him the opportunity to ask the Japanese publisher directly regarding the future of his favorite game .

Nintendo’s Annual Meetings of Shareholders (NTDOY) are an opportunity for the company to present its financial performance and strategies to investors. These meetings typically include question-and-answer segments, where shareholders can speak directly to the directors of the company.
A fan of the Japanese giant therefore had the crazy idea of becoming a shareholder himself in order to be able to ask Nintendo for the return of his favorite game. The fan allegedly spent 5.6 million yen (regarding 40,000 euros) for 100 shares last February, following selling shares of another company. This is the minimum required to be allowed to participate in the famous annual meeting of shareholders.
He asks the president of Nintendo for a sequel to the game F-Zero
During the meeting in which he was able to participate, the fan had the opportunity to ask a question to the leaders of Nintendo, including the president himself, Shuntaro Furukawa. The fan has asked regarding potential sequels or remakes of several older games, including F-Zerowhich has not had a new release for nearly 20 years.
For those who do not know this series of mythical titles, it is regarding futuristic racing games, whose last title of the series was F-Zero GX, released on Game Cube in 2004. An F-Zero game is offered in the Nintendo Switch Online subscription which allows replay of NES and SNES games, and it even appears in Netflix’s High Score miniseries.
Unfortunately for the fan, Shuntaro Furukawa replied that he is ” realistically difficult to develop new titles and remakes, including sequels, for every Nintendo game people request, but we are very grateful and appreciate our fans’ expectations of our games “. Nintendo’s senior general manager, Shinya Takahashi, then added that the company would ” think regarding how to develop new titles and remakes that can be enjoyed by many players ». Nintendo cannot reveal for the moment whether or not an F-Zero remake project is in the cardsbut fortunately for the new investor, the company was not completely closed to the idea.
