Nintendo delays the release of a war game because of the conflict in Ukraine

VIDEO GAMES – Due to the war in Ukraine, Nintendo has decided to postpone the release of the war game Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, announced the Japanese company, this Wednesday, March 9. The game, one of the most anticipated of 2022, was to be available on Tuesday on the console Nintendo Switch.

“Because of international newswe have decided to postpone the release ofAdvance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, originally scheduled for 08/04 on Nintendo Switch,” Nintendo explained on social media. The new release date of the game will be announced later.”

In this military strategy game, the player puts himself in the shoes of a general to command the army of Orange Stars. The goal? Destroy enemy units or capture opponents’ HQ. Game scenarios that echo the ongoing war in Ukraine too much, Nintendo said.

This is not the first time that the release of an opus in the series Advance Wars collides with international news. The first part, released on Game Boy Advance had been marketed the day before the attacks of the September 11, 2001. In France, its release had been postponed to April 2002. Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising came on the market a few months following the start of the war in Iraq in 2003.

Since the beginning of the Russian offensive in Ukraine, some developers responsible for the most famous video game licenses have committed themselves to peace, and often directly in favor of Kiev. EA Sports notably announced on March 3 that it withdrew Russia teams available in its latest opus, FIFA 22.
