Nintendo Delays Public Alarm Clock Launch in Japan
Nintendo fans in Japan hoping to snag the highly anticipated Alarmo clock will have to wait a little longer. The gaming giant has announced a delay in making the product available to the general public, citing production and inventory challenges.
Production Issues Push Back Launch
“We had planned to start general sales to customers who are not Nintendo Switch Online subscribers from mid-February 2025, but in consideration of the production and inventory situation of this product, we have decided to postpone the start,” the company said in a statement (as machine translated).
Although the exact duration of the postponement remains unknown, Nintendo confirmed that pre-orders placed in December will not ship until February 2025.
The delay comes as no surprise considering the immense popularity of the Alarmo clock in Japan. In fact, even Nintendo Switch Online subscribers had to enter a lottery for a chance to secure the device.
Sales in Other Markets Remain Unaffected
As of now, there is no indication that the production constraints are impacting the availability of Alarmo clocks in the US and Europe.
A Coveted Clock
Nintendo’s foray into the world of alarm clocks has generated a great deal of excitement among fans. The Alarmo clock, undoubtedly benefits by being associated with the beloved Nintendo brand and its iconic characters. It remains to be seen how this delay will impact consumer demand, but it’s likely that enthusiastic fans will continue to patiently await the opportunity to own this unique piece of Nintendo merchandise.
Nintendo has apologized for the inconvenience caused by the delay and pledged to announce a revised sales commencement date as soon as it becomes available.
