Nintendo announced today (2/16) that it will gradually end the “Nintendo eShop” digital content purchase service for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U platforms.
The first is scheduled to end the stored value service of the two platforms eShop on August 30 (the stored value of credit card and transportation e-wallet has ended on January 18). Next, the purchase of downloadable software and additional content and the exchange of download codes are scheduled to end in late March 2023.
After the end of the sale of digital content, the remaining stored value will be transferred to the linked Nintendo Account, which can be used to purchase digital content on the Nintendo Switch platform.
Although the subsequent two platforms can still download the update data of the game, and re-download the software and additional content that have been purchased, these services are still scheduled to be closed in the future, and the specific schedule remains to be confirmed later.
