Nine active forest fires and six communes on Red Alert maintain the accidents that are registered in various regions of the country.
The National Emergency Office (One my) reported that nine forest fires remain active, while 52 have already been controlleds. From the agency, in a new report delivered this Saturday, they added that six communes are on Red Alert.
The most affected regions are Valparaiso and Metropolitan.
Mauricio Tapia, deputy director of Onemi, added that this Saturday, the deployed brigades managed to put out 24 forest fires.
The six red alerts correspond to the communes of Quilpué, Catemu, Santo Domingo, Curacaví, Lampa and Mostazal. In all these areas, CONAF’s work has been carried out in coordination with regional delegations and governments.
47 aircraft have been deployed to control fires throughout the country.
Despite the control of many accidents, Fernando Parada, head of Conaf’s Air Resources Department, said that the windy conditions forced give a greater operation of the aircraft. He also indicated that they are working on firewalls to prevent the spread of claims.
During the day on Friday, a huge column of smoke covered the Metropolitan regionwhich forced the authorities to declare a health risk alert, which was lifted this Saturday, however, the Health Seremi, Gonzalo Soto, pointed out that the weather conditions will continue to be monitored anyway, since they are dynamic .
Despite the fact that summer has not yet started, a large number of forest fires have been registered, which at the moment claimed the life of a person in the Quilpué commune, in the Valparaíso region.
Forest fires in the Valparaíso region
are more than 4,000 hectares affected left by the three active forest fires that are registered in the Valparaíso region.
In the first instance, the incident called Panguirosa, in the Santo Domingo commune, is still active, with a slow propagation, which has consumed 2,500 hectares of vegetation and pasture.
Faced with the situation, Mauricio Bustos, regional director of Onemi, confirmed a different risk condition due to the permanent work of emergency personnel.
Meanwhile, the forest fire located in the Quilpué commune, cataloged as Cerro Viejo, maintains a low intensity and slow propagationconsuming a total of 1,300 hectares.
The fire in the commune of Villa Alemana, precisely in Quebrada Escobar, has affected close to 650 hectares and burned 10 homesfinding no progress in its propagation.
