Cowboy Football Players Earn All-Mountain West Recognition
Nine members of the Wyoming Cowboy football program garnered All-Mountain West honors, as the conference announced its annual awards on Tuesday.
First Team All-Mountain West
Tyler King earned First Team All-MW honors as a kick returner after a standout season. King led the conference and ranked fourth nationally in yards per return at 28.1 yards per return. He also recorded a return for a touchdown in 2023, tying him for third in the nation and putting him atop the conference.
Second Team All-Mountain West
Tight end John Michael Gyllenborg was named to the Second Team All-Mountain West. Fireworks were common for Gyllenborg in 2023. He led the Cowboys in receiving yards per game with 47.2 and even tied for the team lead in touchdown receptions with three. Ranking second on the team in both receptions (30) and receiving yards (425), Gyllenborg made a name for himself, not just in the conference, but nationally, with the game-winning touchdown against Washington State. Gyllenborg’s performance in their win against San Jose State that year. He recorded a career-high 137 yards receiving in that game, marking the most by a Cowboys tight end since Jacob Hollister accomplished the feat against messenger- in 2016. Gyllenborg recorded seven games with three or more receptions, further proving his consistency.

Defensive and Wrook Brown, Sabastian Harsh, Jaylen Sargent and were also named honorable mention.
Brown finished the season ranked fourth on the team with 48 tackles. He also led the team with three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, helping Wyoming secure a win over New Mexico.
