The Biou d’Or winning bull, Derrick de Nicollin lived up to expectations on Sunday 9 October in the final of the As Trophy.
Admittedly, there was no sun to illuminate the track where the final day of the 71st edition of the As Midi Libre-La Provence trophy took place, but there were many luminous actions highlighting the face-to-face between the seven bulls and the cream of current raseteurs.
7,000 spectators
In front of some 7,000 spectators filling the bleachers or the stones, there was no real respite and several intense phases illustrated by around forty Carmens highlighting the major actions of the clashes.
After a first part of an enviable level and dominated by Bellenos from the Cuillé manade (rewarded by the way with the prize for the best bull of the followingnoon), it is in front of Derrick, wearing the motto of Nicollin and showing his title of Biòu d’or 2022 that the emotional charge caused by the lawsuits on the boards took on a new dimension. With explosive barrier shots delivered behind a flamboyant Joachim Cadenas at that moment, this final reached peaks of true intensity.
But, throughout the quarter of an hour, with the generosity of Vincent Félix, declared the best presenter of the day, Zakaria Katif, winner of the trophy, or Jérôme Martin, this autumn Sunday will remain in the image of the sensations that the race camarguaise can broadcast.
