An era will come to an end at HC Elbflorenz this summer. Nils Kretschmer, currently the longest-serving professional, is leaving the club after nine years together. His new employer has already been decided.

Nils Kretschmer is currently the longest-serving professional at HC Elbflorenz. But he will give up this status in the summer. The 30-year-old is leaving Dresden after nine years and moving to TV Großwallstadt in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Contract negotiations failed

The Tigers’ sporting director, Rico Göde, described the fact that Kretschmer would be leaving HC Elbflorenz after such a long time as “a great shame” in a club statement. The club and players met to negotiate a contract extension. “However, we were unable to reach an agreement about Nil’s sporting prospects in the next few years at the HCE,” said Göde.

“One of my hardest decisions”

A formative time is also coming to an end for Kretschmer. “Leaving Dresden and HC Elbflorenz was definitely one of my hardest decisions,” explains the Lübeck native. He is “incredibly grateful” for his years at the club and has also developed a special relationship with Dresden. “This beautiful city has simply become my home.”

A rise and many goals

Hardly any other player has had as much of an impact on HC Elbflorenz in recent years as Nils Kretschmer. The backcourt player moved from Stuttgart to Dresden for the 2015/16 season. Kretschmer was part of the promotion team that made it to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2017. In 256 competitive games for the Tigers he has so far scored 633 goals. So far this season, the two-meter-tall backcourt player has played in all 19 games and scored 42 goals
