On the occasion of the recent repeated complaints about irregularities in the operation of gas stations, industries, material production and other commercial activities, the governor of Attica intervenes drastically and sweepingly at all levels of the specific service.
After a number of years, changes were made – by order of Hardalia – even in the position of the General Manager, who is being replaced. At the same time, Heads of Directorates and Departments, as well as many employees of the specific General Directorate, are terminated or moved to other services.
As emphasized by Nikos Hardalia’s entourage, consumer complaints about cases of delinquent behavior – especially at gas stations and material production industries – have been scrutinized throughout the last period, by the Regional Governor himself, who has stated unequivocally from the beginning, the clear his will to defeat the phenomenon.
Mustard command for thorough checks
However, Mr. Hardalias does not stop there. He has already given a clear order for thorough and continuous controls in the eight Regional Units for the definitive elimination of lawlessness and profiteering, with the aim of the orderly operation of the market, as well as the protection of consumers.
Audits are already being carried out by mixed levels of co-competent services of the Attica Region, which are made up of auditors serving in different Regional Units, with the obvious purpose of ensuring objectivity and avoiding the appearance of conflicts of interest.
It is no coincidence, moreover, that the results of the audits have even been forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office – in addition to the competent administrative authorities – while the sanctioning procedures have also begun, which, as we have seen, even go as far as revoking gas station operating licenses. In fact, the Customs Audit Service (EL.Y.T.) of Attica, as well as the Inter-service Market Control Unit (DIMEA) of the Ministry of Development are also active in the wave of checks.
Hardalias: “No tolerance for illegal practices”
As he states to his colleagues, the Regional Governor of Attica will continue to personally monitor the matter, having given specific orders – in every direction – for the smooth operation of the market and the protection of the consumer public. “No tolerance for criminal practices that offend citizens, harm the state’s revenues and affect the prestige and reliability of our services”, was the clear message of the Regional Governor of Attica”.
