Nikola Vasic victory director against GAIS – BP

BP beat GAIS at home after two early goals by Nikola Vasic in the second half. The striker has now scored 17 goals and tops the Allsvenskan shooting league.

Before kick-off, Gustav Sandberg Magnusson was praised at Grimsta IP. The crowd arranged a tifo, the players went out with shirts to pay tribute to the faithful servant and he received several gifts.

First half

White-clad GAIS kicked off the match. The teams took turns holding the ball during the first quarter without creating any major chances.

After 16 minutes of play, Nikola Vasic of BP and Harun Ibrahim of GAIS collided with each other and needed to be checked by doctors. Both were quickly back in play. Five minutes later, the visitors came close to taking the lead after Milovanovic tried with the right. The finished shot just outside Lukas Hägg Johansson’s right post.

Lukas Hägg Johansson made a fine save on a shot from Axel Henriksson. The ball went out for a corner.

GAIS was the team that had the most and best chances in the first half. BP had a hard time getting out of the away team’s pressure and instead had to defend for long periods.

Second half

The crowd at Grimsta IP barely had time to sit down for the second half before BP took the lead. As on 15 previous occasions during the year, it was Nikola Vasic who scored the goal. The striker is now the sole league leader in goalscoring again. The goal came about after Ludvig Fritzson headed the ball forward to Vasic, who placed the lead goal.

Four minutes later, Nikola Vasic tricked his guard before deliciously hitting the crossbar to make it 2-0. Goal 17 for the striker in this year’s Allsvenskan. Forward player was Adam Jakobsen.

In the 60th minute, Wilmer Odefalk had the opportunity to make it 3-0 after he was played through by Daleho Irandust, but the midfielder’s finish was saved by the away goalkeeper.

Daleho Irandust limped off the field in the 74th minute after sustaining a knock. In came Theo Bergvall. In minute 83, Adam Jakobsen also left the match when Paya Pichkah was substituted. With one minute left of regular time, Kaare Barslund was replaced by André Calisir.

BP defended relatively low during the end of the match to preserve their lead. Visiting GAIS had difficulty creating any scoring chances and it never got exciting towards the end. A good defensive effort from BP over 90 minutes where Nikola Vasic’s two goals were decisive. With the three points recorded, BP is now nine points short of qualifying for relegation.
