Nike and fitness subscription platform Strava have partnered to simplify the act of transferring activity data from one service to another. This makes it easier for users to monitor workouts and connect with the community.

This move gives Nike+ users access to more than 750,000 connected clubs and 100 million fitness enthusiasts that exist on Strava. The fitness app’s last notable partnership was with the streaming platform Spotify.

With the partnership, Nike is now able to publish selected content on Strava through brand clubs. The app is popular for its selection of outdoor trail maps, developed by the adventure platform FATMAP, which will also be made available to users of the sports company.

Nike plans to host select challenges on Strava that will unlock rewards. In the case of Strava, the intention is to emphasize the app’s clubs and community groups, but will also be offered dangerous route traces in mountains, with avalanche alerts, for example. These upcoming updates include a new interface and an easier method of integrating videos, routes and miscellaneous activities.
