Work will be carried out at night on the E42 between Obourg and Jemappes, over 11.5 km, from October 2. The highway will be closed, towards France, in sections, Sofico said on Friday. The objective is to ensure the durability of the continuous reinforced concrete of the road. The three traffic lanes and the emergency lane will be coated with a water-repellent product to seal any cracks observed.
The first phase will concern the portion between exit 12 “Obourg” and access 23 “Nimy-Maisières”. This part is scheduled for six nights, from Monday 2 to Sunday 8, each time from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. A diversion will be put in place via the R5a and the N552/route de Wallonie.
From Sunday October 8 to Wednesday October 11, always from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., the portion between exit 23 “Nimy-Maisières” and access B501/24 “Mons” will be inaccessible. Traffic will be diverted via the N552/route de Wallonie.
Finally, the last three nights of closure, from Wednesday 11 to Saturday 14, will concern the section from the side of the motorway between the B501 and the R5.
