The stay had been prepared for several months. At the beginning of July, a group of young people from the youth center La Clef (Etterbeek) took the bus in Brussels towards Bordeaux. A whole week of activities had been planned by the supervising team, made up of four facilitators. Except that the beginning of the stay turned into a nightmare. The story is told by our colleagues from Sudinfo and some DH.
It all started well though. The group boards a Flixbus bus in Brussels. No delay is announced and the bus arrives as planned at the Paris-Bercy bus station where a connection is planned for Bordeaux. Except that this bus – victim of a technical problem – never left.
No information is communicated to passengers. No alternative is available and following several hours of waiting, the company finally informs the group that the journey is canceled and that the passengers can find a hotel room and another means of transport to reach their destination.

But it is then nearly 3 o’clock in the morning. No hotel can accommodate such a large group and all the buses and trains – the first week of vacation requires – are full. After spending the night “without water” and “without sanitation” at the bus station, the officials finally call on a private bus company to reach their destination.
