A Belgian family had the unpleasant surprise to discover that the “idyllic castle” they had rented for their holidays in southern Italy was in fact in a deplorable summer.
Huge disappointment. While dreaming of spending an unforgettable holiday in Tuscany, this family from Belgium saw their stay turn into a nightmare. Indeed, following paying 13,000 euros for 15 days in a luxury villa in southern Italy, the unfortunates instead discovered a dirty residence, without electricity and with a swimming pool where the water had been stagnating for weeks. .
Yet on the announcement of the site specializing in travel, everything seemed perfect: an “idyllic castle”, first-rate services, air conditioning, a magnificent swimming pool, beautiful stone… On site, unfortunately, it is quite the opposite awaits this couple and their daughter.
“We wanted a fairly high-end vacation, says Kristel to the Belgian media HLN, quoted by 7sur7.be. The pictures on the website really looked like a postcard. We booked for fifteen days and paid 13,000 euros. We were so impatient. I kept talking regarding it around me.
“They never answered us”
Abandoned garden, poorly maintained castle… despite the presence of the owner to try to embellish the setting, the holidays immediately understand that they have fallen into a quagmire. Especially when the latter tries to turn on the light and the current immediately jumps.
Worse, when it comes to evoking the water in the house, the taps only letting a “dirty and smelly” liquid flow, the master of the place explained to the tenants “that he had two large barrels of ‘water outside with which to wash’… Same deplorable state on the walls of the house where the mold spreads on the walls of the house like those of the swimming pool where the water is stagnant.

Faced with this deplorable state of affairs, the Belgian family decides to find a plan B a few kilometers away and hastens to complain to the platform where the reservation was made (Belvilla). In vain… “We tried to contact them by phone or by email every day, explains the mother of the family (…) But they never answered us. A month later, still nothing. We even had to file a new complaint because our booking period had expired (…) At the moment the castle in Tuscany can still be booked on their website.”
