Nightly Russian drone strikes on kyiv left at least one dead and four injured, authorities reported Thursday. This is the third consecutive night of attacks on the Ukrainian capital. Explosions were heard in several neighborhoods.

“Tonight a massive attack by Iranian drones took place,” the Kyiv military administration said on Telegram. Shahed explosive drones “entered the capital from different directions”, she added, pointing out that “a dozen” of them had been shot down in the city’s airspace.

Falling debris was reported in five neighborhoods, the administration said, adding that a 19-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were hospitalized with injuries caused by shrapnel.

Two people were injured in the Darnytsky district “as a result of falling debris”, Sergiy Popko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said on Telegram. It is not clear if these are the same two victims.

Emergency services responded to calls in Solomyansky, Shevchenkivsky, Podilsky and Darnytsky neighborhoods following “explosions in the capital”, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

“In the Podilsky district, while fighting a fire in an apartment building, the body of a deceased person was found,” Kitschko said on Telegram. He also mentioned two people “hospitalized” in similar circumstances in the same neighborhood, without it being known whether they are the same people.

Two other people in the Shevchenkivsky district were treated on the spot, Klitschko said.

Fires broke out in an apartment building in the Shevchenkivsky district and in a non-residential building in Podilsky, he added, adding that emergency services were on the scene.

A photograph posted on the official Telegram channel of the Kyiv Military Administration shows part of a completely blown wall in a room of a high building in Darnytsky.
