ChronicAfter weeks of closure, we can dance once more this weekend in France. On the dancefloor of Chez Lulu, a brand new Parisian festive cocoon, the long-awaited flamboyance was timid.
Ethey had closed. Then reopened. Then closed. Along the way, many died, taking with them the bonfires of the feast. And then, on February 16, 2022, the nightclubs were able to reopen. “Tonight is the first Friday following the reopening, it will be hot. » The bouncer at Chez Lulu, a bar-club restaurant in 1is district of Paris, expects the world. Predicts the crowd. “People are waiting for this, it’s been too long now. » The starting signal was thus launched. Get out, let’s get out, let’s go find the light in the dark of these clubs that have suffered from the absence of night owls, banned by the pandemic.
Chez Lulu is still in the running-in period, enjoying only two days of operation. This “restau-disco-erotic” is a new promise that dresses up the previous festive place of the same address, Jean-Louis la nuit. “A big bet” for Lucile Clergerie, its owner, who built her plan to return to the party by betting on the excitement of the senses.
Lulu’s hospitality wants to set in motion the taste, hearing, and smell of her customers. “Here we eat, we drink, we dance, we apply ourselves, we look good, we have fun. » Dancers in brilliant jumpsuits stroll, very sensual, between their little boudoir and the dance hall. “Cabaret atmosphere, without being one. It’s all scenography. » A specific perfume has been created so that the place prints and leaves its mark. “It has to smell like ass, you have to feel alive”warns Lulu, who has sculpted her lair “glamorous and erotic” resembling a troglodyte dwelling decorated in a seventies style.
Take here and now what is to be taken
Don’t ask where the masks, passes, and barrier gestures are in this artistic and animal setting. Don’t ask if World War III is declared. Tonight, the plan is to commune on a floral carpet that depoliticizes those who walk on it and engages the whole body. Don’t ask what we think of this sudden lifting of restrictions, tonight no one cares whether or not it’s a pre-election giveaway. It’s regarding taking here and now what is to be taken, because tomorrow, we don’t know anything regarding it.
Yes but here it is. We come a long way. We must admit, even if we are on the right track, the sense of celebration seems damaged. Two years of rupture have polished a form of dishabituation, without warning. Tonight, we’re not going out like before. The long-awaited flamboyance is shy. The bodies did not come out to escape, to let go of everything. Yet it was this desire that burned in the heart.
