Night of Chaos: Illegal Rave Party and Reckless Vehicular Revenge in Tournaisis

The police services in the Tournaisis area experienced a particularly agitated night from Saturday to Sunday, which might have turned into a tragedy.

It was around 3 a.m. when the police were called to intervene for a rave party, in the presence of more than 200 people in the Tournai-Ouest 3 zone in Blandain.

“The police managed to put up a barrier in order to prevent the arrival of new revelers on the site, reports the mayor of Tournai, Paul-Olivier Delannois. The organizers, who are not from Picardy Wallonia, were identified and negotiations took place. An agreement was finally reached to interrupt this illegal party around 4 a.m., otherwise the organizers would face sanctions with the seizure of their equipment.”

The author and his passenger deprived of their liberty. An act of revenge?

The night might then have taken a dramatic turn towards the Tournai quays. Around 4 a.m., the driver of a vehicle intentionally drove onto the terrace of a bistro where several customers were still seated, along the Quai du Marché au Poisson.

”Area officers intercepted the driver and his passenger. We really came close to the worst with only one minor injury among those present,” specifies Mr. Delannois, who praises the efficiency of the police services.

How can we explain such unthinkable behavior, which might have caused the death of one or more people? A good source tells us that the author, who spent his night in cafes on the quays, was unhappy with the closing rules imposed on establishments (4 hours). He then wanted to take revenge by returning to the scene with his vehicle, which he deliberately launched towards the terrace of a bistro.
