Famous Nigerian atheist activist Muhammad Mubarak Bala pleaded guilty to blasphemy on Tuesday before a court in the north of his country, which sentenced him to 24 years in prison, Agence France-Presse reported on Tuesday. Muhammad Mubarak Bala, 37, is president of the Humanists Association of Nigeria. He had been arrested in April 2020 for writing posts on Facebook criticizing Islam and its prophet.
