Nieuwkuijk Attack: Victim May Lose Second Leg

Fighting to Walk Again After Senseless Attack Takes Her Leg

Last Friday, the repetitive whir of surgical tools filled the air once more, bringing exêsquisite pain and uncertainty back into focus. It was another surgery, this time on her remaining leg – a procedure that could determine whether she will ever walk again.

The woman, who had already lost one leg the night an explosive shredded her life in a blast at her doorstep.

Hidden away in hospitals, her voice reached out those listening. She shared

her story, wanting to expose the brutal reality of the attack that shattered her world.

“What has been done to us?” she wrote in a letter.

“Why? By whom? How?”

The explosion ripped through the front door of her home on a quiet night in November, leaving her reeling with agonizing injuries. Though she survived, her reality now revolves around relentless pain, the threat of losing yet another limb, and a future shrouded in fear.

The perpetrator remains at large.

Days are consumed with trying to mend broken bones, the air thick with the fear of losing yet another part of herself. The

uncertainty gnaws at her. The future stretches ahead, empty and frightening.

“It could have been much worse,” she wrote, offering a flicker of

gratitude. “We could have suffered death or even more injuries.”

But her own struggles for survival remain at the forefront.

“I am defeated, I am silent, I am sad,” the woman wrote. “But the injury that is not yet under control – what will our future look like? It’s all unclear, there are so many questions.”

## A Long Road to Recovery

The road to recovery is fraught with pain, uncertainty, and a gnawing fear of losing another leg. Her right leg, beyond saving, was amputated on the night of the explosion. The weeks that followed were consumed by surgery and the agonizing struggle to remain positive, to hope for a future where she might walk again.

This latest surgery was on her remaining leg. This time, it was a battle against infections – a large wound, refusing to heal, forcing doctors

to attempt complex procedures.

The woman battles not only agonizing pain, but also a sense of betrayal.

“I knew immediately that it wasn’t meant for us,” she confided.

Someone knew her.

Targeted.

Why?

The unanswered question eats away at her, keeping her awake, leaving her grappling not only with physical pain, but also

with the immeasurable weight of the nameless, faceless attack. “Who was it meant for?” she pleads, echoing the unanswered question without answers. “Then what the hell is going on there
