Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro condemned this Saturday the attack suffered by the former president of the United States Donald Trump – who was injured at a rally in Pennsylvania – while wishing “health and a long life” to the Republican, whom he recognized as his political “adversary.”
“On behalf of all of Venezuela, I want to reject and repudiate the attack once morest President Donald Trump and wish him a speedy recovery. We have been adversaries, but I wish President Trump good health and a long life,” said the Chavista leader during a campaign event in the northern state of Carabobo.
Trump was rushed to hospital on Saturday with a bloody wound to his right ear following several shots were heard as he began his rally in the town of Butler, Pennsylvania, two days before the Republican National Convention.
Secret Service agents, who were lying on the roof of a barn behind the lectern where Trump was addressing an estimated 15,000 attendees, according to the organization, responded to the attempted attack while the former president, the public and the press remained on the ground.
The rally, where all eyes were on whether the former president would finally reveal his vice presidential pick if he returns to the White House, was being held in a predominantly rural location made up mostly of white, working-class families.
