This victory is the overcoming of my biggest dream, declared Nicolas Brunette, a fan of the American version of Survivor and who had hoped for more than 10 years to participate in such a show.

The jackpot won will allow him to realize his second dream: to become a dad.

“Some of that money goes into savings for when my boyfriend and I are ready to adopt. »

— A quote from Nicolas Brunette, the show’s very first winner Survivor Quebec.

The latter has kept the secret of his victory since his return to the country at the end of last March. No one knew. I didn’t tell my parents, my friends. My chum didn’t know, he said with a laugh.

Aged 25, Nicolas Brunette studied at École Polyvalente Le Carrefour, then at Cégep de Gatineau. Until now, he worked as a communications and marketing agent for a non-profit organization. He is preparing for new professional adventures, since he will be moving to Montreal in July with his spouse. A decision taken even before his participation in the show, specifies Nicolas Brunette.

The pleasure of playing

The winner of Survivor Quebec mentioned having learned a lot throughout this adventure: to make a fire and to fish, to be content with a minimum daily portion of rice to survive, but also to abandon predetermined strategies to better adapt to the game and to forge ties with the incredible group of participants in this first Quebec version.

To prepare, the young adventurer watched several seasons of Survivor. I looked at different strategies, different ways of approaching the game, which worked, he confided.

Eliminated halfway, Nicolas Brunette was however able to continue the adventure on the island of Redemption. After 15 days of exclusion and four challenges won, he was able to re-enter the competition. The feat has also earned him the nickname of the King of Redemption, by another Gatineau resident, the host of the show Patrice Bélanger.

The rest of the adventure took him to the final on Sunday. Far from being the most athletic participant, by his own admission, Nicolas Brunette was able to use strategy to win the competition.

Among the 20 candidates of Survivor Quebeche was one of five participants from Gatineau and Chelsea.

A second season of Survivor Quebec has already been announced for 2024. Patrice Bélanger will once again host it.
