Big slime guns, SpongeBob SquarePants between the goal posts. What initially sounds like a bad April Fool’s joke has become very popular with young NFL fans. The US children’s channel “Nickelodeon” has already broadcast an NFL game three times and impressed with cool graphics and child-friendly programming. Now it is clear: The upcoming Super Bowl should also be a highlight for the young fans.

Former NFL wide receiver Nate Burleson made the announcement on CBS Mornings. Burleson, who played for the Vikings, Seahawks and Lions from 2003 to 2013, will once more be in the commentary booth when “Nickelodeon” accompanies the world’s biggest sporting event.

“Nickelodeon and CBS are teaming up to produce a slime broadcast of Super Bowl LVIII specifically for kids and families. Nickelodeon and CBS are part of Paramount Global, so cheers to the family,” Burleson said.

Whether the Nickelodeon version will also get its own commercials is not yet known. The creative Super Bowl commercials are eagerly awaited by football fans each year and bring in over half a billion dollars in revenue for the NFL alone.

NFL: Also a regular season game on “Nickleodeon”

In addition to the Super Bowl, “Nickelodeon” will broadcast another game. In keeping with the festival of love, the US broadcaster will also package the matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs in a child-friendly way at Christmas.

The division duel will be the fourth broadcast of the children’s channel. The wild card duel between the Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints started on January 10, 2021. Even then, “Nickelodeon” received a lot of positive feedback for the transmission and the broadcasting concept. In addition
