Nick Suzuki would only be the 3rd center of a “contender” team according to Guy Boucher

Nick Suzuki is becoming quite the hockey player. Somehow, the Canadian can count himself lucky to have seen the Golden Knights refuse to include young Cody Glass in thePacioretty exchange. Nick Suzuki was in the NHL All-Star Game this year, while Cody Glass probably would have made that of the American League if there had been one.

Suzuki is the Canadian’s leading scorer this morning (51 points in 69 games).

Since Feb. 20, he has 23 points in 20 games, the 30th-highest total in the NHL in that span.

He’s been excellent the team’s last two playoff runs.

He’s only 22 and people are already talking regarding him as the next captain (in the long term, at least) of the team.

This morning he won the March slice of the cup Carey Price Molson (tied with Cole Caufield).

But hey, that doesn’t stop Guy Boucher from seeing Suzuki as only a third centre in a team contender.

“He is in most teams, a second center. But, if he’s on a top team today, he’s third center in Tampa. He is third center in Colorado. In Toronto, he would clearly be behind Auston Matthews and John Tavares” –
Guy Boucher

Nick Suzuki, a third center? Nah…

Any coach of quality that would count on Matthews, Tavares and Suzuki would place one on the wing on the top six, and not in the center of the third line. Same thing in Denver with MacKinnon, Kadri and Suzuki…

Would Suzuki, Kadri or Tavares be moved to the wing? Whatever… there is no reason to say that Suzuki is a third center. Even in a team that aspires to high honors…

Suzuki would definitely be in the top six in Carolina, Florida, New York or Minnesota.

Guy Boucher also indicated that Rem Pitlick would be nothing more than a fourth-line player on a team contender in health.

Pitlick and Suzuki were playing in the first trio of the team that beat the Lightning on Saturday night in Tampa.

I understand where Guy Boucher wanted to go, but he missed his target in my opinion.

Nick Suzuki has found consistency and is now able to produce away from the Bell Centre. He played a good part of the season with a Cole Caufield who was looking for himself and saw his other winger changer more often than anything.

The bromance Suzuki – Caufieldit is of good quality top six on any NHL team. Otherwise, we are REALLY in the m*rde in Montreal since Suzuki will earn nearly $8 million per season starting next year. So much money for a third center? Nah…

Yes, the Canadian has many issues to deal with, but Nick Suzuki is not one of them. Truly not!

A lot of

– Will Price have to go through Laval or through a backup job before getting a start?

– Very cool!

– The hour of retirement has come for Ryan Getzlaf, who will have played his entire career with the Ducks.

– The KHL loses important feathers.

– Signing with CF Montreal.

Let’s go!
