Nick de Vries talked about the background of choosing “21” as the fixed car number to be used in the F1 career starting in Scuderia AlphaTauri from 2023.
Since 2014, all drivers will have to choose a race number to use throughout their F1 career. Nick de Vries has chosen to run car number 21 for his F1 debut with Scuderia AlphaTauri.
“When I was first allowed to test in Formula 1 for Mercedes at the end of 2020, I ran with that number. Every team has a specific backup number for their test or reserve drivers. This was at the time. It was a coincidence,” Nick de Vries told De Telegraaf.
