The European, 21 years old and number 100 in the ATP ranking, stood up to ‘La Torre de Santiago’ (18th) from start to finish. And his daring was rewarded.

After a ‘real sporting war’, Cobolli took the victory in five sets. He even achieved a vital break when Jarry served to seal the match in his favor.

In the end, the result favored the Italian for 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 2-6 y 7-5, in four hours of play.

Now, in the second round, Cobolli will face the Russian Pavel Kotov.

Kotov, number 65 in the world, has just beaten Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, number 94 in the world, also in five sets (7-5, 6-1, 6-7, 6-7 and 6-3).
