Coddington is admitted to practice in England, Wales and Ireland and can provide advice under English law. He also has several years of experience from working as a solicitor at White & Case from 2011 to 2021. Before that, he worked as a lawyer at Clifford Chance in Warsaw. He started his career at Allen & Overy in Great Britain.
Coddington’s focus includes corporate and project financing in Central and Eastern Europe. An industry focus is on the energy, environment and sustainability, infrastructure and real estate sectors. The new salary partner at Wolf Theiss plans to pay particular attention to the countries in southeastern Europe that are seeking to join the EU, including Albania and Serbia.

Coddington’s arrival comes a few months following Dr. Marcell Németh, salary partner in financing law, moved to DLA Piper in Vienna. However, its focus in advising on English law is different and includes banking and portfolio transactions in Central and Eastern Europe.

Wolf Theiss now has ten partners in banking and finance law, making him one of the most staffed and experienced teams on the Vienna market. The firm had been looking for a career changer in English law for some time to strengthen its Central and Eastern European financing practice.
Off to the European Union
Coddington’s time at White & Case also included advising a consortium of eleven Polish and international banks on a $1 billion loan to the chemical company Grupa Azoty. At Deloitte Legal in spring 2021, Coddington advised, among others, the Polish bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) on a $700 million loan for the Chilean mining company Sierra Gorda.
