Priyanka Chopra says her husband Nick Jonas is her “greatest champion”.
The 40-year-old actress has been married to former Disney Channel star Nick, 30, since 2018 and has 14-month-old daughter Malti Marie with him and explained how they are both the biggest support in the other in life.
Speaking at the South Asian Excellence at the Oscars event in Los Angeles on Thursday (09.10.23), she said: “My husband is my greatest champion and he is half Indian, as you will see when the music will start, but he supports me so much. He finished his shoot, he arrived refreshed and ready to be here by my side. And, you know, he defends me and reminds me when I forget. »
The ‘Quantico’ star added that the combined support of her and Nick’s family was “the only way” for her to pursue a career in showbusiness. She noted that she had “never” seen a room filled with so many people who looked like her when she spoke at the Hollywood event.
She added: “The support [de Nick] and my family – my in-laws are back home with the baby – having my family there is the only way I can do what I do. My family is my greatest, my greatest strength. In 12 years of working in Hollywood, I’ve never seen a room filled with so many brown people who excel in their field. Never. And when we did it last year, the first time, it was smaller, it was quaint, it was sort of organized because it was an idea. And then to see so many people acknowledging that this is a real thing, so many nominees, knowing this is their mat, that you’re there to talk to them, that this is their time. We are the ones who encourage them very strongly before Sunday, so that they feel confident and know that they have a community behind them. »
