“Niagara”: a first role for comedian François Pérusse — 98.5 Montréal

The film Niagara, directed by Guillaume Lambert, takes the poster and presents the story of three brothers who make a trip from Quebec to Niagara Falls on the occasion of the funeral of their dead father by participating in an “Ice Bucket Challenge”.

In an interview with Catherine Beauchamp, Patrick Lagacé and MC Gilles, comedian François Pérusse, who plays the leading role in a feature film, did not hide his astonishment when he was offered the project. He explains that he took acting classes in high school, but because he suffered from stage fright, he always knew he would never do it in his lifetime.

He was still intrigued when Guillaume Lambert contacted him to tell him that he was his inspiration for the character.

François finally fell in love with the script and he dove into the project alongside Guy Jodoin, Marcel Sabourin and Marie Eykel.

He also explains that in the middle of the project, he had to deal with a retinal detachment which required great discipline from him to be able to complete the filming. Patrick Lagacé might not help but remind him with a touch of humor that if he eventually won an Iris prize for the role, he would have to talk regarding his retinal detachment…

Listen to the interview with the one who stands out this time for the quality of his playing rather than for his unique humor.
