Immediately following the standalone single テトラ – almost two years following the split release Two and six following the first EP depression – lay the patient Japanese nman with “A kind of overtone”three more Morse code songs, more perfect than before.

On“A kind of overtone”sounds the trio from Tokyo – singer and bass player Kikuchiスガワラ (guitar) and アベ (drums) – more than ever exactly as if they had Toe their post-rock-affine math rock suddenly to screamo and emoviolence with subtle Midwest coloring and Jerome‘s Dream-Embossing translated – so: fantastic (even if the songwriting still can’t deepen the grandiose stylistic aesthetics in an appropriately iconic way).

In any case, the complex chaos doesn’t need any warm-up time at all, wonderfully energetic, but starts the 13 minutes of the three songs in a brilliant way a kind of overtone i with super-jittery, wriggling drumming, adventurous and tricky, meticulously interlocking oscillating (but actually wonderfully melodic) strings from a clean, pounding guitar and the grumbling bass, before the vocals break out hysterically nagging, but in the largely instrumental pieces more symptomatically as part of the more directly tangible Sounds are to be understood, not the guiding symbol. The analytical, architectural element dominates here, but the intuitive momentum and the imaginative surface travel on it.

In a kind of overtone ii the female voice chants seamlessly, slowing down the number almost glitchingly silently at the jazzy staccato, before A kind of overtone iii acts like a Morse code receiver is hyperventilating. For a long time it was a Vitus dance on the cymbals, then a nervous search called out beyond the oscillating dreaminess, an evening spasm celebrating almost like electronic impulses in organic spasms, and later the brakes rockingly released to close the circle following all.
Or with“A kind of overtone”define nman their own eclectic character and are preparing everything to deliver more than just a potential sample of talent on an exciting scale in this spectrum. (In this respect, there is also a benevolent revaluation between the points at this point).
