NHL: The Canadiens visit the Ducks

RDS and RDS.ca present the game between the Canadiens and the Ducks.

Summary

The Montreal Canadiens continue their trip to the American West with a stop in Anaheim to face the Ducks.

The score is tied 1-1 at the second intermission.

Jonathan Drouin opened the scoring with his first goal of the season just 1:16 into the game. Drouin had 18 assists since the start of the season but was unable to find the back of the net in his first 38 games. His last goal dated back to January 1, 2022.

Ducks goaltender John Gibson appeared to be injured on the streak, but he remained in the game.

Jayson Megna was quick to tie the game with his second of the season just over three minutes following Drouin’s goal.

Kaiden Guhle left for the dressing room at the end of the first period. He seemed to hurt his right shoulder when he took a hit from Maxime Comtois and immediately retired to the locker room. He was, however, back at the start of the second period.

Pre-game notes

We might expect to see a transformed team on this trade deadline day, but players like Joel Edmundson, Jonathan Drouin, Sean Monahan or Mike Hoffman, who were at the heart of rumors, will finally end the season in Montreal.

Samuel Montembeault will be in net for the Canadiens, who are playing their second game in as many nights following losing 3-2 to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night.

During this meeting, Denis Gurianov scored his first goal since being acquired from the Dallas Stars. Justin Barron suffered an upper body injury and he won’t be back to play tonight.
