NHL: Spencer Knight (Panthers) in the player assistance program

The Florida Panthers have announced that goaltender Spencer Knight will be out indefinitely as he uses the NHL and NHLPA Player Assistance Program.

Knight will continue to be paid while he is processed. He can join the Panthers when he receives the green light from a program manager to return to competition.

According to George Richard, of FlaHockeyNowKnight’s absence is not related to a drug or alcohol problem.

Knight played 21 games with the Panthers this season, his third in the league, going 9-8-3 with a 3.18 goals- once morest average and .901 save percentage. The 21-year-old goalkeeper was affected by an injury and illness, the nature of which has not been disclosed.

The one who was drafted 13e in total in 2019 had been transferred to the American Hockey League on Thursday in order to benefit from more playing time with the Charlotte Checkers.

No return date is planned in his case.

The NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program was established in 1996. It helps players and their loved ones deal with mental health, substance abuse or other issues.
