The Philadelphia Flyers are hard at work closing a deal involving their star forward Claude Girouxsays our colleague Pierre LeBrun.
The latter notes that there was some progress in this file on Friday, but that the Flyers are not yet close to coming to an agreement with a team.
The Flyers continue to grind away on a Claude Giroux trade. Sense is there was a bit of progress yesterday. But still not where they need it to be. Lots of time still before Monday’s 3 pm ET deadline.@TSNHockey @TheAthletic

The 34-year-old forward has 18 goals and 24 assists in 57 games with the Flyers this season, his 15th with the team.
Carolina is keen on its 2023 1st pick
The Carolina Hurricanes have informed other NHL teams that they will not be trading their 2023 first-round pick for a rental player, LeBrun reports.
The club lost their 2022 first-round pick following the hostile bid filed for the services of Jesperi Kotkaniemi last summer.
The Hurricanes have informed clubs they won’t trade their 2023 first round pick for a rental player. Obviously they don’t have their first this year from the Kotkaniemi offer sheet. @TSNHockey @TheAthletic

The Hurricanes currently sit second in the Eastern Conference standings with 88 points, two points behind the Florida Panthers.
The Panthers recently traded their 2023 first-round pick to the Montreal Canadiens, along with prospect Tyler Smilanic and a 2022 fourth-round pick, in exchange for the defenseman Ben Chiarotfuture unrestricted free agent.
Fleury: moderate interest
As the trade deadline looms, interest in the Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury would be moderate for now, says LeBrun.
According to him, a few teams made general requests, but nothing serious.
Fleury will become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
Fairly quiet on the Marc-Andre Fleury front. Some general inquiries still coming in from teams, but nothing serious at the moment. @TSNHockey @TheAthletic
