JT Miller is in Canada for several years. The forward has agreed to a seven-year deal with the Vancouver Canucks that will earn him $56 million, an annual average of $8 million.
His future in Vancouver seemed uncertain as he entered the final year of a five-year contract that was earning him an average of $5.25 million per season.
Miller had a career-best campaign in 2021-22, approaching 100 points with 32 goals and 67 assists for 99 points. He finished the season ranked 9th in Bettman league scoring.
“JT Miller is an impact player in the NHL and we are excited to have extended his long-term contract with the Canucks,” Canucks general manager Patrick Allvi said in a statement.
“His production in the last season speaks for itself. His fighting spirit is a model for our players. He will continue to be an important part of this team for years to come. »
Drafted in the first round by the New York Rangers at the 2011 auction, Miller played the first six seasons of his career in the Big Apple, before joining the Tampa Bay Lightning midway through the 2017-18 season.
The Canucks then acquired him in June 2019 for Marek Mazanec, a first-round pick and a third-round pick.
In 637 NHL games, Miller has 169 goals and 454 points. He also added 9 goals and 44 points in 78 playoff games.
