“The Swedish league is probably the best league in Europe, so it will be a challenge for me to establish myself in it. Malmö were one of the first clubs to contact me and following talking to the sports manager Björn Liljander I felt that I wanted to be part of the team and help him to advance to the playoffs,” said Galvas.

The hockey player from Olomouc signed a two-year contract in 2021 with Chicago, which drafted him four years earlier. But he played only six games in the NHL in the first season, otherwise he worked for the farm team in Rockford playing in the lower AHL. He therefore decided to return to Europe following the current year.

“We are very happy that Jakub made that decision and chose our team. He is a defenseman capable of playing in the offensive and defensive third, who skates very well and plays with the puck,” said Liljander. According to him, the player will join the team’s training in mid-June.

Galvas also has 16 starts for the senior national team. Before going overseas, he worked in Finland for two seasons and played for the Jukurit Mikkeli team.
