NEW YORK — The National Hockey League announced today that Boston Bruins’ Jim Montgomery (Atlantic), Dallas Stars’ Peter DeBoer (Central), Carolina Hurricanes’ Rod Brind’Amour (Metropolitan) and Vegas Golden Knights’ Bruce Cassidy (Pacific ) will serve as the head coach for the 2023 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend on February 3rd and 4th in South Florida.
As part of the All-Star selection process, the head coach of the team with the highest number of points (points earned divided by total points possible) in each of the four divisions will be selected by game day on Wednesday, January 11 – the midway point in the regular season – of their respective Lead All-Star Squad.
Montgomery’s Bruins (.850, 32-4-4), DeBoer’s Stars (.667, 25-11-6), Brind’Amour’s Hurricanes (.695, 25-9-7) and Cassidy’s Golden Knights (.667, 27-13-2) rest assured that following Wednesday’s game day, they will still have the highest scores in their respective divisions.
DeBoer is attending All-Star Weekend as a head coach for the third time, his third of the quartet. He previously led the Pacific Division All-Stars with the San Jose Sharks (2017) and the Golden Knights (2022). Brind’Amour (Hurricanes/Metropolitan Division in 2022) and Cassidy (Bruins/Atlantic Division in 2020) make their second appearances, while Montgomery makes his debut as an All-Star head coach.
