In a two-story apartment building in Tamadenishi, Nishinari-ku, Osaka, a woman reported to the fire department that smoke was coming from the second floor at around 3:20 pm on the 5th. Thirty-five fire engines and other vehicles were dispatched to put out the fire, which took approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to extinguish.
According to the police and fire department, two adult men on the second floor and the roof were rescued immediately following the fire started, but one of them died following being transported to the hospital. The other person was unharmed. One adult male was also rescued from the first floor regarding 3 hours following the fire broke out but was later confirmed dead following being taken to the hospital.
The police are investigating the cause of the fire and trying to identify the two people who died. The building is located in a densely populated residential area near Tamade Station on the Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line.
